Bodymovin

Bodymovin was the beginning. Bodymovin was and somehow still is a tool used with Adobe After Effects. It enables the user to export animations created in After Effects into a format called JSON. This JSON file is internally a lottiefile. Lotties are meant to be displayed in modern Webbrowsers or in other digital projects using a javascript lottieplayer.

StreamShapers Ferryman as it was initially programmed in 2023 was built to take a lottiefile and simply encapsulate it in an HTML wrapper making it possible to play the HTML file with a playout solution capable of playing HTML graphics such as CasparCG. Since then, things have been developed further and the StreamShapers workflow does no longer rely on Bodymovin.

StreamShapers OGraf Builder as our Extension for After Effects is called is the newer, more convenient and advanced way of creating HTML graphics, especially OGrafs as specified by the EBU.

Bodymovin is theoretically still a way to create a lottiefile that can then be used with Ferryman to create an OGraf but there are some difficulties and inconveniences Bodymovin as it is not in active development anymore and is not designed with HTML graphics and OGraf in mind in a sense of Broadcast and Livestreams.

We want to take the opportunity to express our gratitude to Hernan Torrisi for originally creating Bodymovin whose creation lives and flourishes as Lottie today.

Thank you to Hernan Torrisi for creating Bodymovin and changing animations in a way that is available to everyone 🙏
